Veneers in Woodland Hills California serving Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas.
Your smile is your currency. Flashing a healthy, vibrant smile invites others in and promotes a warm, positive interaction that can affect both your personal and your professional life. By contrast, hiding your smile due to damaged or discolored teeth can make you look unapproachable, upset or even angry — all looks that keep others at bay. Why waste any more time being embarrassed by your teeth when you can have a beautiful, camera-ready smile and without extensive dental work?
Dr. Yousefi at By Woodland Hills Cosmetic and Family Dentistry offers porcelain veneers in Woodland Hills to correct cosmetic dental problems like chipped, stained, discolored and misshapen teeth. Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain shells that are bonded to the surface of your teeth to craft a smile that is all at once stunning and natural-looking.
Would You Benefit from Veneers?
Porcelain veneers can be used to improve the aesthetics of your smile if you have one or more of the following issues:
- Chipped, cracked or otherwise damaged teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Crooked or misshapen teeth
- Stained or discolored teeth
- Eroded tooth enamel
- What to Expect from Veneer Placement
Veneer placement is generally performed over the course of two office visits. During your first visit, Dr. Yousefi will prepare your teeth for veneer placement by gently removing a small amount of enamel (about the thickness of the veneer itself) from your teeth. To ensure that your veneers look as natural as possible, Dr. Yousefi will then make an impression of your mouth to create a model of your teeth; she will also take photos and digital X-rays of your mouth and use a color guide to match the shade of your natural teeth so that your veneers will look as natural as possible. After this is done, Dr. Yousefi will place temporary veneers on your teeth until your permanent veneers are ready (usually after about three weeks).
On your second office visit, Dr. Yousefi will remove your temporary veneers and place your permanent veneers. Before bonding them to the teeth, Dr. Yousefi will try on each veneer and evaluate them, making sure that they appear natural and fit comfortably. He will ensure that they are to your liking and are perfect for your smile. Veneer placement involves no discomfort or downtime afterwards, so you will be ready to show off your new smile to the world immediately!
Frequently Asked Questions about Veneers
What problems can porcelain veneers fix?
Porcelain veneers can be placed to mask teeth that are slightly chipped, cracked, stained or discolored. Veneers can also conceal uneven tooth alignment or spacing. Sometimes veneers are placed simply to improve teeth that are naturally unattractive.
Who will make my veneers?
We work with several dental laboratories whose work is consistently superb. Skilled dental technicians will create your veneers based on the impressions and information that we take and send to them.
Does veneer placement hurt?
No, the placement of veneers is not painful. Before the teeth are prepared for veneers, they are numbed so there is no pain or discomfort. The teeth are also numbed when the temporary veneers are removed and the permanent veneers cemented into place.
Will my teeth be sensitive after veneers placement?
Because veneers placement requires that a small amount of tooth structure be removed, the tooth might be sensitive for a few days. We can place temporary veneers over the prepared tooth while the permanent restoration is being constructed, which can help reduce or prevent sensitivity.
Will my veneers look like my natural teeth?
Yes, your veneers will be created to match your natural teeth in size, shape and color. Once placed, no one should be able to tell your veneered teeth from your natural teeth.
Can porcelain veneers stain or discolor?
No, porcelain cannot stain or discolor like natural teeth. They also do not respond to teeth whitening treatment.
Can veneers develop cavities?
Veneered teeth can develop cavities just as non-veneered teeth can, but veneers do not affect the likelihood of getting cavities. To prevent cavities, brush and floss the veneered teeth like you would normal teeth.
What is the difference between a dental crown and a dental veneer?
While the material is generally the same, crowns and veneers are used differently. Veneers are used for cosmetic purposes to cover up superficial imperfections, and crowns are used to restore teeth that are broken or badly damaged. Veneers are thin sheets or layers of porcelain that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. Crowns are designed to recreate the entire, 360-degree exterior of the tooth.
How much do porcelain veneers cost?
The cost of porcelain veneers depends on the type and number used. Please see below our current offers for Veneers.
Will dental insurance cover porcelain veneers?
No, porcelain veneers are considered an elective cosmetic treatment. Therefore, they are not covered by most dental insurance plans. Alternative treatments, such as orthodontic therapy to straighten teeth or dental bonding to repair small chips or cracks, may be covered by dental insurance plans. Check with your individual insurer to confirm guidelines for coverage.
How long will my veneers last?
How long your veneers last depends on how well you take care of them. With the proper care and attention, veneers can last seven to 20 years.
Sometimes veneers chip or become loose and fall off. If this happens, they should be bonded back into place or replaced with new veneers.
